I’ve been asked plenty of times if I watch “The Walking Dead”. A co-worker even went on great lengths explaining the beauty of the character development in the show only to find out in the end, that I don’t even watch it.

OOPS. My bad for feeding you brain-eating (and other body parts, I guess), previously alive now walking dead amusement.  Really, no puns intended.

As far as character development, I’m limited to what memes have to offer. These are pretty good, no?

Although not a fan of this zombie apocalypse scenario, there are days when I contemplate hard…What will I do in case it does happen?!

I think one of the best and quick survival option is to RUN and GTFO. FAST. Usain Bolt kinda fast.

So why should you sprint? Other than escaping a horde of zombies trying to chase you down, there are plenty of positives to sprinting. If you have ever tried sprint training, you can definitely relate to the feeling of greatness (soreness) when you wake up the next day. Being so quick and effective, it makes you question why you would even do things like driving to the gym to ride a bike.

Please don’t.This kid might drop the rock on his toes if you do!

Ok. Let’s stay on track (bad pun definitely intended). Here’s a short list on the benefits of sprinting, and why you should get started.

  • You get faster. You get leaner. Basically, you get leaner faster.
  • You wake up the next day with sore abs thinking WTF. Let’s be honest though, we love that feeling.
  • Your metabolism is going to be racing
  • Workout time is short
  • Your glutes (behind) will love you. Check out these olympians’ strong glutes that will outrun a gazelle in the wild

Sprinting is a technical skill however, and is not for everyone. It takes time and technique to reap the full benefits but is definitely something worth learning and adding to your program.

You can always start by not riding the bike in the gym 🙂

I came across this post today and had to conemmt! I’m in my 37th week of pregnancy, we’re expecting our baby boy (first child) very soon, and I’m itching to get back into running post-pregnancy. Reading this was really inspirational and offered a lot of great advice and tips that I’m sure will help me along as I get back into the swing of things post-baby. Thanks for posting, and for inspiring other running mummies!Liz
