With the summer coming to an end and the sweaters jumping out of the closet it’s the perfect time for some weight gaining tips. After all, no more beach days or shirtless publicity (unless of course you’re completely incapable of living without taking the infamous bathroom cell phone pic) so we can relax and let loose. This is a perfect time to pack on some pounds (muscle of course) without the concern for the slight fat gain that accompanies that. So without further adieu, here are 5 tips for gaining weight.

1. Eat every 2-3 hours: Don’t wait until you’re hungry, go by the clock.

2. Eat protein with every meal: Something you should be doing anyways regardless of the goal, but in the quest to gain muscle this is especially important.

3. Eat carbs: The whole meat and vegetables thing is great for losing fat and staying lean but not so great for gaining weight. So every time you eat pound back the carbs, like oatmeal and bananas for breakfast, rice or pasta with lunch and dinner, and granola bars and stuff for snacks in between.

           

             Vegetables. Not powerhouses calorie-wise no matter how big they are.

4. Don’t worry about calories and stuff JUST EAT, and eat like you mean it: When I gain weight I make sure I don’t even feel hungry for weeks. If you’re hungry you’re not eating enough. If the scale doesn’t budge after a week or two then you’re not eating enough. No one has a bottomless stomach, here’s your reality check.

5. Don’t worry about keeping your abs or staying lean: Especially now since it’s getting colt and you don’t have to worry about going to the beach or anything. When gaining weight it’s impossible not to gain a little fat so don’t sweat it. It’s much easier to lose that fat than it is to gain muscle.
